Fanaa

Movie: Fanaa

My hubby lured me away from the whodunit that I was glued onto, to catch Fanaa on Friday. Being the big Kajol fan that I am, I didn’t wanna miss watching her comeback flick and I gave in after half-hearted protests. To my surprise, we managed to get tickets for the show. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the biggest disappointment after my 10th Standard Board Results. The movie moved way too slow in the first half, and it really dragged in parts. But for the kid sitting next to me (no, I’m not talking about my hubby) who pestered her father with her incessant questions (and he really deserves a place on the cover page of Parenting magazine ), I would have drifted off to sleep...Sigh!

I must admit though, the second half did make me sit up on the edge of my seat, (much to the dismay of the short lady sitting behind me) only to settle back when I saw glimpses of the stiletto murderer from ‘ The Eye of the Needle’ – Ken Follet. The story was too predictable as the end was a rip -off from the same book. Kajol and Aamir Khan acted well, but their mediocre performances did nothing to add value to the movie. The songs were just about OKAY. All in all, the movie was nothing out of the ordinary despite having a great star cast and the hype surrounding it.

The only saving grace? The Shayaris! (though I still don't know what Fanaa means:D)

I only hope the Da Vinci Code doesn't disappoint me as well.

Hey,
According to the subtitles shown in the cinema halls in Sydney, Fanaa means destruction, ravage and even armageddon (all 3 used to describe the word at diff times!)
I guess you might have figured out how I felt about the movie from the fact that I was analyzing the subtitles!
Have put up a review on my blog too

Really? Yes, the story was predictable and it had it's silly moments, but overall I thought the performances were not mediocre and were quite excellent. I haven't read "The Eye of the Needle" so I can't comment on that, and I'm sure it must have been disappointing to forsee the ending. I too knew how it would go by the intermission, but I still enjoyed the movie. The music was great too.

Da Vinci Code on the other hand....I am boycotting the movie, because the book was so bad. And after all I've heard, I'd tell ya to save your money and wait for it on dvd.

Cheers!

Fanaa -- Destroyed my 3 hours and money too.

Da Vinci Code -- I liked the movie, it has done whatever justice one can to a book with the help of a movie.

Hey!

Just watched Fanaa last night and checked your blog for a new post today! What luck. I found the movie okay. Predictabe, yes, but still tolerable. As you mentioned, the shayaris were good, and that baby Rehan was soooooooooooooo cute :)

As for The Da Vinci Code, the movie again is okay. Wouldn't make much of a difference since you already know the end. I mean, did not make for a very good watch as such.

Hey, so I haven't been on for well over a year, but you thought I was on a blogging strike while I was on and you posted a comment one of my poems. But I figured since you were the only other real person that commented I figured you might be happy to know I've returned to my blog.
