"If your work is becoming uninteresting, so are you. Work is an inanimate thing and can be made lively and interesting only by injecting yourself into it. Your job is only as big as you are."
- George C. Hubbs
The other day, I was talking to someone who confided in me about the banes of her job. Each job has its own nadirs and zeniths. It is up to each individual to decide whether the pros outweigh the cons or vice versa. Considering that most of us spend half of our waking hours working at a job it is very important that we like what we do, or else we should do what we like.
Fast Company has compiled a list of jobs, which according to them are the best jobs to pursue over the next 5 years. Have a looksie at the 25 top jobs for 2005...
Do you get up in the morning glad to be heading out to another day of work, or is it a burden that you feel you must bear?
What according to you is the best job? What must one consider before taking up a job - money? retirement benefits? chances of promotion? perks?
I love my job(and that's the understatement of the decade), are you happy with yours? What is the thing that you love/ hate most about your job? I invite you to share your views and opinions
We are No.3. Hurray!...shouldnt be a surprise to anyone :-)
ReplyDeleteYes Anand..Sangeetha,wheres ur teaching profession?
ReplyDeleteHaaaaaaah! Because dear Anbu teaching is not merely ajob, it is a vocation :P
ReplyDeleteI love my work. But I dont love the organization I work always ;-)
ReplyDeleteIts all the more interesting, when I know that what I am doing is benefiting someone across the globe. And yeah, when things dont happen the way it should,.work is a better alternative. To forget worries and tensions in life.
Job is a part of life and therefore like life it has its own ups and downs. When I achieve something, I feel I am best suited for my profession. During grave failure I feel that I am trapped and other people do not have to face such problems which I face and feel like quting.
ReplyDeleteBTW Sangeeta, I am sure you know about Google Print which now allows to search pages of books also. Great addition by Google.
Congratulations, Anand, glad you made it to the top 3.
ReplyDeleteI agree Prabhu, there's no therapy as work, and you get paid for it as well. I am a hardcore workaholic, and when I throw myself into work, I forget everything else:P. But I need to love the organisation that I'm working for as well.
You are right Jinu, a perfect job is a myth. You can't have your cake and eat it too...
Right JV, but stay put. Remember, winners never quit, and quitters never win.
Yoo HOO! My job's No.3!!!
ReplyDeleteBut that doesn't really matter whether others want my job or not.
What matters most is that I like it :)
