Welcome to 2020,
Welcome to the age of plenty
An age of world peace,
Welcome to the age of plenty
An age of world peace,
No politicians with palms of grease.
No goons brandishing blood thirsty blades,
And yes, we’ll have found a cure for AIDS!
No garbage, no more slums,
No waifs scrounging around for stale breadcrumbs.
You wont find even the faintest trace of crime,
No killings, for reason or rhyme.
In virtual classrooms the teachers will teach,
Education will be within every child’s reach.
Everything around us will be clean and green,
A pollution free city... Is no longer a distant dream.
Formula 1 tracks in every metro, For the Narains of tomorrow,
No international funds will we ever need to borrow.
Once again India will be a land of milk and honey,
Teen writers give JK Rowling a run for her money.
A safer place for children this world will be
Look! Snaps of teachers splashed on Page 3!
Girls and women, well have no fear,
There will be no Sunil More’s lurking around here.

as usual gr8 Sangeeta...I wud have titled it..heaven on earth-vision 2020...even though hardly any of them wud be reality...but then we can't stop dreaming for the fear that they will not come true...wud comment on two of the dream...politician will be politician...we have thousand of years of history behind us...and hope todays classroom are not converted into virtual classrooms...there wud be no personal touch...no camaraderie...though universal education is a worthy dream
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll get started on the:
"In virtual classrooms the teachers will teach,
Education will be within every child’s reach." bit.... :-D
I was tempted to be cynical...but with a vision like that, who can be? More power to you, lady...the future does belong to those who believe in dreams!
ReplyDeleteGood poem Sangeet!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope this becomes true!!!
Take care....
